Contributing editor Chryss Yost is a poet and educator who has spent her life in California. She served as Santa Barbara’s Poet Laureate from 2013-2015. She is the co-editor of Gunpowder Press with David Starkey.
Chryss has edited many influential anthologies, including California Poetry: From the Gold Rush to the Present, edited with Dana Gioia and Jack Hicks, was the first major overview of the subject. Poetry Daily: A Year of Poems for the World’s Most Popular Poetry Website, edited with Poetry Daily founders Dianne Boller and Don Selby, was a groundbreaking project which confirmed the growing influence of the internet as a space for establishing literary community.
A survivor of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), she is also an advocate for heart attack awareness (“Know the signs!”). She lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, George Yatchisin.
